He is best known as the bassist and keyboardist of the band Led Zeppelin. John Paul Jones was born on January 3, 1946, in Sidcup, Kent (now part of Greater London). He was given the pseudonym "John Paul Jones" by his friend Andrew Loog Oldham, who was the future manager of the Rolling Stones. The inspiration for the name came from a French movie poster of the same name.
